Thirty Day Boyfriend

N/A

Whitney G.

Romance, Novella

I should’ve never agreed to this arrangement…

Thirty days ago, my boss—Mr. Wolf of Wall Street, came to me with an offer I
couldn’t refuse: Sign my name on the dotted line and pretend to be his fiancée
for one month. If I agreed, he would let me out of my employment contract with
a “very generous” severance package.

The rules were pretty simple: No intimate kissing, no actual sex. Just pretend
to love each other for the press, even though I’ve secretly wanted to knock
that sexy smirk off his face since the first day we met.

I definitely didn’t need to think twice about this. I signed my name and
started counting down the seconds to when I would never have to deal with his
special brand of ass-holery again.

I only made it to one minute…

We argued the entire four-hour flight to his hometown, failed to make a
convincing impression with the welcoming press, and right when I was about to
knock that arrogant look off his face in real life? He purposely
dropped his bath towel in front of me, distracting me with his nine-inch cock
to “show me who the bigger person was” in our relationship. Then he
gave me his trademark smirk once again and asked if I wanted to consummate our
marriage.

Tragically, this is only day one.
We still have 29 more days to go…

Overall Plot:

Love this kind of premise. I will (almost) always eat up a fake relationship story! The extra layer of them being boss/employee is fun. The story was very The Proposal, but dare I say better🫣 (don’t come for me Proposal fans).

I love that they were very aware that they were both attracted to one another. They were clear with that to us in the narration, to themselves, and clearly were aware of the mutual sexual attraction and tension. I love that, especially since it’s a short book. We don’t need to waste time with them acting like they don’t think the other is attractive. I also love it because it didn’t change the fact that Emily was irritated working for him and thought he was an ass, and know she’s attracted.

I really dislike the twin stuff. I just think a lot of twins in media are portrayed just weirdly. I don’t want a fantastical relationship between these siblings, just be normal? This is more of an in general thing rather than specifically in this book, but I do think it’s weird that they were going to pretend to be each other for events the other didn’t want to participate in. Maybe some identical twins do that, but it feels like a media thing more than a real thing. But I guess I don’t know.

I also just did not like Jenna. She was annoying and just a dumb character. Why do we need to hear about how she just sleeps around all the time and doesn’t remember any of their names? I don’t care about that and I also don’t know why that’s basically her whole personality. Quips and sex. That’s Jenna.

Whitney was checking off things I love. “Fake kiss?” Hell yeah, super intense kiss. Love that😌 Airplane sex? Half marks because it didn’t happen, but I felt the tension and it was beautiful💕 And I’m a sucker once the fake relationship brings in pieces from their real life. Yes Nicholas, give me the story of how you fell in love. I crave it and I thank you😌

There were a lot of cute little moments in this story, and I loved most of them. It was such a funny and cute and romantic and spicy journey.

Problem/Crisis (in relationship):

So tiny, barely there, which honestly was perfection. It’s a short book and there was enough drama I don’t need them being sad for long😭 But they weren’t, and it was just a small thing where miss ma’am was there to end the contract and stupid Nicholas was being super cold and professional, obviously hurting her.

Resolution:

Yeah, it really happens so quickly, Emily finally opened the damn work anniversary gifts from Nicholas. And I am going to hold this spoiler in (as much as it pains me) because I like forgetting about it in between re-reads, and it’s just too fucking adorable to spoil. And, dumb-dumb Nicholas comes in and they clear the air and he proposes for real because fucking yes he does.

Ending (+ Epilogue):

Treated with an adorable and perfectly in character proposal for Emily and Nicholas. So damn satisfying. They are perfect and I wish there were an epilogue with their wedding, or showing them some years later because damn they’re cute.

Enjoyment/How much the story hooked me:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Emily is awesome. She’s so funny and I love her spunk. She’s very oblivious to her obvious special treatment from Nicholas (girl, no one gives their PA’s as much as he gives you, read the room😂). She had some stubbornness, but she’s a sweetheart. She’s also a protective thing, she loves Nicholas as much as the man loves her and she could deny it but that love was there.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I freaking love Nicholas. He’s a secret softie and I love that. He’s so cute, he’s so caring, he loves his family and he loves Emily. This man was loyal to her before he even had her and never even knew if he would have her (especially considering he didn’t seem to be planning on making any direct moves on her).

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Their chemistry was off the damn charts. These two were deeply attracted to one another and deeply in love with one another. They had great banter, fun sass, and just amazing energy. They’re perfect for each other. Period.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Love this any and every time I read it. It’s so fun. It’s easy to read because Whitney is a great writer and these characters go so well together and it’s not very long. This is a great book and I will always keep it on my list of books to re-read.
